Job description
About Tekst & Our Mission
At Tekst, we believe in a world where enterprise processes run themselves, and people get to do the work they love. Our mission is to make enterprise processes self-improving. To get there, we’re building the context layer that lets AI agents work at scale on the back-office processes that actually matter. With enterprise customers like Daikin, Colruyt, Mitsubishi and Nokia and $13.5M in Series A funding, we cut through the AI hype to deliver real, measurable automation.
Finance is one of those back-office processes, and we want ours to show what’s possible: lean, sharp and powered by AI from day one.
The Role
As our first finance hire, you’ll be the hands-on engine of our finance function, working side by side with our Head of Fiance. Today, finance at Tekst is our Head of finance and an external accounting firm. You’ll make sure the day-to-day finance runs smoothly: the numbers are correct, the reporting goes out on time, and questions from across the company get a clear answer.
This is a broad role with a lot of ownership. Next to the recurring work, there’s a steady stream of ad-hoc projects and questions. One day you’re checking the month-end close, the next you’re building an analysis for a pricing question, preparing data for investors, or automating a process that used to take half a day. Priorities shift as the company grows, so no two weeks look the same. If you’re looking for a clearly fenced-off job, this isn’t it. If you like rolling up your sleeves and want to see every part of how finance works in a scale-up, it is.
What will you be doing?
Keep the numbers right: Be the in-house counterpart to our external accountant. Follow up on pre-accounting, review the month-end close, analyse variances and challenge the numbers when something doesn’t add up.
Own the SaaS metrics: Monthly and quarterly reporting on ARR/CARR/MRR, NRR/GRR, retention and burn. You’re the go-to person when anyone asks “what are our numbers?”
Reporting: Prepare the recurring management and investor reporting together with the Head of Finance.
Budget and performance: Support the budgeting process and own the monthly budget-vs-actual analysis, so deviations are spotted and explained early.
Models and dashboards: Maintain and further develop our financial models and dashboards.
Ad-hoc projects and analyses: Pick up whatever comes up as the company grows, from one-off analyses and business cases to supporting fundraising (data room, investor questions) and setting up new tools or processes.
Automate what’s manual: Spot manual processes and improve or automate them, using AI wherever it helps. We’re an AI company, and our finance function should run like one.
What’s in it for you?
Competitive salary
Real, rare ownership: as our first finance hire, you help shape the finance function and your own role.
Working directly with our Head of Finance, with hands-on coaching and a learning curve that’s hard to match in a larger organisation.
Broad exposure: from reporting and controlling to fundraising, process automation and AI.
Short decision lines: good ideas get implemented without layers of approval.
Fun team-buildings, social and sports activities.
Being surrounded by an all-star team with a unicorn dream and a strong office culture.
What we’re looking for
Experience: 2 to 5 years in finance, for example in (Big 4) audit or advisory, or in a finance role at a SaaS company or scale-up.
Education: Master’s degree in economics, business engineering or a related field.
Accounting: Solid understanding of Belgian accounting (BE GAAP) and the closing process.
Tooling: Advanced Excel skills and comfortable using AI tools in your daily work. Power BI is a plus.
Hands-on and ownership: You don’t mind rolling up your sleeves, and you bring a task across the finish line without needing guidance at every step.
Eye for detail: Analytical and structured. You don’t rest until the numbers are right.
Flexibility: You’re comfortable with shifting priorities and ad-hoc requests, and can switch gears quickly without losing quality.
People skills: Approachable and easy to work with, across finance, product and sales.
Bonus: Familiarity with SaaS metrics such as ARR, NRR and churn.
Fluent in Dutch and English. Based in Belgium, we have a strong on office working culture in our nice HQ in Gentbrugge.
